Skincare Hacks At Home

Skin care products can be expensive, and when you run out, it might not always be convenient to drop by the store to stock up.  Here are some alternatives to skin care products that can be made with items you probably have right at home.

Toothpaste:

You already use toothpaste to keep your teeth clean and healthy, but what you may not know is that white toothpaste can also reduce acne, remove bug bites, and help to eliminate the effects of itchy skin rashes. Apply white toothpaste directly to your bug bites or acne, allow it to dry and then go to sleep. In the morning, wash off the toothpaste.

Exfoliate with a brown sugar lip scrub:

Add enough honey or olive oil to about a tablespoon of sugar to make the mix pasty. If you want something that smells a little nicer, you can add a drop of vanilla or peppermint extract. This can be used once or twice a week. Just scrub it on your lips to exfoliate, leave on for a minute or two, then wipe or rinse it off. Moisturise with lip balm afterwards.

Treat your face with a honey mask:

Use your fingers to spread about a teaspoon of honey over your face, leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse off with warm water and pat dry. Make sure you use raw honey with no additives.

Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice is great for after extraction and helps with discoloration of the effected skin. Use a notch of a lemon wedge to rub over the pimples, and let the lemon juice set for 30 minutes.

Moisturise your skin with olive or coconut oil:

Keep your skin soft and supple by applying a small amount of olive or coconut oil onto slightly damp, freshly showered skin at night to lock in your skin’s natural moisture and keep it from getting dry.
