Dry skin is a common problem, especially when the air is cold and dry. You may use moisturizers and lotions to deal with it, but you can never be sure what’s in them. If you want to care for your dry skin the natural way, here are five home remedies for dry skin.
Avocado: All you need to do is mash up the flesh of an avocado into a paste and then apply it directly to your face and let it sit for fifteen minutes. You might also want to try adding two tablespoons of honey to the mix for some extra moisturizing power.
Coconut oil: Simply apply warm coconut oil over your body, leave it on overnight and then wash it off in the morning. Coconut oil is also good for using straight after a shower, because it will be absorbed by your skin more readily.
Olive oil: Olive oil is wonderfully soothing on dry, cracked skin. The best way to use olive oil to treat dry skin is to massage it into your skin about half an hour before you take a shower. You can then wash it off in the shower and apply a light moisturizer after your shower to lock all the moisture in.
Aloe vera gel: You will get better results if you use fresh aloe vera gel. Just cut on a leaf, squeeze out the gel, and apply it to your skin. Leave it to sit for 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
Shea butter: Shea butter is one of the simplest and most effective remedies for dry skin. It will leave your skin feeling a bit greasy though, so it’s better if you use as a night treatment and wash it off again in the morning.
