Important Tips On How To Maintain Dreadlocks

Hey Ladies, have you been wondering how to wear a lovely dreadlock and maintain it? The right tips for your dreadlocks is important if you are trying to maintain it, they are just simple steps you need to take in order to make the dread neat and clean always.

Soak your dreads well with water in the shower, squirt a little Dread Empire shampoo and gently work them into the dreads. Be sure to rinse out the shampoo really, really well. Ok, time to dry. Lean over letting your dreads hang down in front of you and squeeze as much water out as you can.

If your dreadlocks isn’t up to two weeks, you don’t need to wash, I would just recommend combing your hair out and you can achieve this by parting your hair into 4 sections. To encourage new growth, take two strands of your dreadlocks and twist it together tying the base with a rubber or pro elastic band. Do this with your entire dreadlocks.

If you feel its old and look unkept then wash with water and shampoo. Note that it is really important to use residue free dreadlock shampoo and rinse out the shampoo properly. After washing, squeeze out water and any excessive as much as you can, leave for some minutes to air dry or you can use an hair dryer for faster means.

Now that they are dry and clean, your dreadlocks will knot and tighten easily this is the perfect time to dread ball loose hairs and palm roll your dreads, they may get a little frizzy while you work on them but just dread ball the frizzes.

Next if you wish, treat your dreads to a small coat of Dread Wax, rub it in real good and smooth out any frizz as you go. You can use a hair dryer to help melt the wax, although be careful not to overdo it as it can dry your dreads out. At this point your dreads should look pretty well maintained and this should last up to a week. Afterwards, you can frequently wash your dreadlocks and make sure it dries out completely.

If you want to tighten the dreadlocks use the clockwise rubbing method and palm rolling (rolling the dread back and forth between your palms) to help the body of the dreads and the roots tighten. Also keeping them clean and free of residues helps them tighten as well. Spraying them with Locking Accelerator or using a light sprinkle of Dread Dust helps to tighten the dreads too. Sun helps the process too, spray the Accelerator in your hair and allow it to dry in the sun.
