Spices, in India are not just used to create tasty dishes but they are also used in medicines. Spices according to Ayurveda can be used to heal a number of ailments and they have no side effects like the prescribed or over the counter medicines. Most of the spices are commonly found in your kitchens and can be used for both common and uncommon conditions. Here are the home remedies using spices for various ailments:
Black pepper can used to treat dandruff effectively. Warm some coconut oil and add little pepper powder to it. Keep it for 2-3 hours in the oil and strain. Apply this oil on the scalp and wash off after 3-4 hours or keep overnight. Cardamom oil too can be used to eradicate dandruff completely. Mix cardamom oil in coconut oil and use it massage your scalp. Wash off after 1 hour.
Ginger can help ease constipation, to keep your bowels moving, boil some ginger in water and filter it after coming to room temperature. A great tasting fennel tea, or chewing half a teaspoon of the fresh seeds is a simple way to prevent or treat many digestive problems like gas, bloating and cramps.
3. CANKER SORES
Clove oil can heal your canker sores quickly. Gargle using salt water first and apply some clove oil mixed with honey on the canker sore. Do this every day during bedtime until it heals completely. You can also apply cinnamon powder on the canker sore throughout the day time.
Clove oil is useful and effective for all kinds of oral problems. It can be used to ward off bad breath and toothache. Mix few drops of clove oil in plain water and swish it in the mouth for few minutes. Spit and rinse your mouth. You can also chew on some cardamom pods for few minutes and spit it out.
Mix equal parts of ground nutmeg and honey and dab on your pimple. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then wash off. You can also use turmeric to heal acne quickly, simply make turmeric and milk paste and apply it over the face. Keep it for 20 minutes and wash off.
6. BAD BREATH
Unlike mint, which tends to just mask the smell of bad breath, cinnamon actually gets rid of the odor by killing off odor-causing bacteria.
7. MUSCLE PAIN
Basil is anti-inflammatory in nature that helps ease muscle pain and reduce swelling if any. Boil basil leaves in water until the water becomes half the quantity. Apply this water on the affected area and massage until it seeps in. Do not wash away. Similarly you can use black pepper water or black pepper oil
Cumin can help with issues of sleep. The tiny cumin seed might just do the trick for you. Cumin seeds are a highly effective treatment for insomnia. You can also drink a cumin tea right before bed.
9. COUGH AND COLD
Ginger can be used to relieve cough and cold. Boil some ginger in water and filter it after coming to room temperature. Drink the filtrate several times a day until you feel good. Cayene too can give your relief from painful cough and nasal inflammation due to cold and cough.
10. CUTS & BURNS
Turmeric that are known for their antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal properties. It helps in natural healing small cuts, burns and wounds without leaving any marks.
